So Where Are You From?
I always love and hate when people ask me that question. Anyone else who has moved around a lot while growing up could probably relate to this.
Let me walk you through my moves:
-Kentucky 3 years
-Indiana 9 years
-Kentucky 3 years
-Mississippi 3 years
-Ohio 3 years
Can you see why I love that question?
To be honest I never really know what the answer is; I think I say something different every time depending on who is asking me. When I was thinking about this, it made me wonder what the question even means.
Are you from the place you last lived? The place you’ve lived the longest? Where you have most of your family members?
If that’s the criteria for answering this question, then I am still confused! I’d still be from all over.
But then, I realized that none of that matters. It doesn’t matter where I lived the longest, or anything else like that. It mostly matters knowing where my family is and where I am going.
Those places built me.
So to be honest, I can’t answer which is my favorite place because I was in different stages of life in each state. I wouldn’t change that for anything. Each place taught me different things and I was fortunate enough to meet so many great people.
That’s where I’m from. Great states that had some great people.
Now that that’s out of the way, it only matters where I’m going. I know that those places built me, but I need to take that and run with those life lessons and stories in order to create my future.
Anyone else who has had a childhood likes this, or even if you haven’t, we all want to figure out where we belong. From my own experience, the only way to do so is to get out and see the world.
Go travel.
Go explore.
Go see what God has put on this earth for us.
You will learn something about yourself, discover new places and some amazing people.
